Summer Programs & Employment
Many colleges and universities offer enriching summer programs across a wide range of subjects, academic majors, and experiential learning opportunities. These programs allow students to explore potential fields of study and career paths while gaining valuable exposure to college-level academics and campus life. Below are opportunities available to interested students. Students are encouraged to consult with their school counselor before applying to any summer program.

Boston University Summer Term Pre-College Programs
APPLY NOW for the 2026 Summer Term Pre-College Programs at Boston University
This program offers four distinct pre-college programs, each of which provides rigorous and collaborative college life experiences that will enable high school students to gain a strong sense of their personal and academic potential and get a glimpse of their futures. Here is a brief overview of each of our programs:
- High School Honors is a six-week residential, commuter, or online program in which students take Boston University undergraduate courses and earn up to 8 transferable college credits. Students must be entering their junior or senior year of high school in fall 2026.
- RISE Internship/Practicum is a six-week, non-credit residential or commuter program in which domestic students conduct university-level scientific research under the guidance of university mentors and instructors. Students must be entering their senior year of high school in fall 2026.
- Academic Immersion (AIM) is a three-week, non-credit residential or commuter program for students to focus intensively on a single academic topic while experiencing life on a college campus. This summer we are offering four AIM tracks: Introduction to Experimental Psychology; Introduction to Medicine; Creative Writing; and Business. Each track combines classroom work in the subject area with hands-on experiential learning activities. Students must be entering their junior or senior year of high school in fall 2026.
- Summer Challenge is a two-week residential or commuter program in which students take two non-credit seminars of their choice and experience a taste of college life. Students must be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school in fall 2026.

SUNY New Paltz Summer Honors Program
The SUNY New Paltz Summer Honors Program is open to current high school juniors. Students who successfully complete the summer 2026 program will be conditionally accepted to SUNY New Paltz for Fall 2027.
The program will run from Sunday, July 19 to Friday, July 24:
- Students will participate in active learning led by faculty from the SUNY New Paltz campus.
- Topics include -- Media, Sustainability, Theatre, and Astronomy.
- A variety of different workshops (Career Advisement and Financing College), as well as
- Excursions (Cornell Creative Arts Center, Minnewaska State Park and Historic Huguenot Street) will be offered.
The daily schedule will include breakfast, a college course in the morning, lunch, an afternoon college course, an excursion, dinner and then evening activities.
Qualified students should have:
- A cumulative GPA of 86 and above.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Be involved in community service.
- Have a passion for learning.

This program requires a nomination from your counselor. Interested students should see their counselor to obtain the necessary paperwork.
Hofstra University Summer Science Research Program
Hofstra University’s Summer Science Research Program (HUSSRP) offers high school students opportunities to conduct on-campus research under the guidance of our faculty in all disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering, Sociology, Geology, Mathematics and Public Health. This program is competitive requiring students to submit a completed online application and letter of recommendation from a teacher by the deadline for their application to be reviewed.
Program Highlights:
- 4-week mentored research opportunity
- Weekly research/professional development seminars
- Present research at a poster session

Oxford Summer Discovery Program
Oxford partners with world-renowned universities that enable them to deliver exceptional academic offerings and curriculum. This year, they have expanded to the following colleges and universities with personalized instruction in a tutorial-style course/courses:

University of Chicago Summer Pre-College Program
The University of Chicago’s summer pre-college programs draw from a multidisciplinary emphasis and intellectual richness of the College’s Core curriculum. Whether it’s creative writing, economics or molecular engineering, students can find a formative college-level experience on campus during the summer months. Programs with in-person and online courses are vast and available in 3 week, 2 week and 2 week immersion programs.
In addition to building skills, gaining insight into the college experience and learning what makes UChicago a distinctive destination for higher education, any student who completes a summer session course or program is eligible for Summer Session Early Notification. This means that if such students decide to apply to UChicago, they will be informed earlier under the Early Decision 1 round in their senior year.

Five Towns College Pre-College Summer (PCS) Program
The Five Towns College Pre-College Summer Program (PCS) is a well-established program where students can explore exciting courses in:

NYU Pre-College Program for High School Students
Spend a term as an NYU student in the fall, spring, or summer as a NYU Precollege student! You can earn college credits, connect with NYU faculty and classmates, and discover passions that can shape your life.
As a Precollege student, you will be an NYU student with access to the resources, community, and global network that make NYU unique. If you already know what you want to major in, or if you want to try out a subject you've never studied before, NYU Precollege is the best way to develop your skills and prepare for college.
Eligible applicants must be rising 11th or 12th grade high school students in summer or current 11th or 12th grade students in the fall or spring semesters. Students must have strong academic records (minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).
